Blair Stayzer Put on Waivers

On Wednesday, January 6, the Fort Wayne Komets announced that they had placed veteran defenseman Blair Stayzer on waivers. Stayzer, who was picked up from Kalamazoo in the dispersal draft last summer, had played in a total of 13 games for the Komets, netting 1 goal in that time and earning 34 penalty minutes. Relied upon largely to be an enforcer, Stayzer was also frequently used as a forward to screen goalies. Fans often criticized Stayzer's fighting prowess, as he frequently went down before the linesmen were fully aware that a brawl had broken out. Others gave him credit for at least trying to stand up for his teammates when others merely looked the other way. Stayzer had been on IR since December 4, 2009 with a cuncussion, but Komets representatives insisted that he is ready to play now, and that the move was entirely due to the roster space/numbers game. Here at "Komets with a 'K'", I'd like to wish Stayzer the very best of luck in finding a new team to showcase his talents.
